The mayor of Argamasilla de Alba, Pedro Ángel Jiménez, together with the municipal technical architect, Valentín Tébar, and the municipal works manager, Armando Serrano, have visited the pavement improvement works carried out in various sections of the Camino del Campo and the road green, to verify that these were done in accordance with what was agreed and budgeted, being able to verify the considerable improvement that has been made on this important road, widely used by farmers, but also, increasingly, by neighbors as an alternative to the N-310 to access the town.
These improvements have been carried out within the plan for the conditioning and improvement of municipal agricultural road infrastructure 2021 of the Canada WhatsApp Number Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, and have involved a total investment of euros, of which have been contributed through a subsidy from the Provincial Council and euros of municipal contribution.
The Jaén municipality of Cazorla has been selected by popular vote to win the title of Capital of Rural Tourism 2022, the contest promoted by EscapadaRural - the most important digital platform specialized in rural tourism in Spain with more than 20,000 rural accommodations - that distinguishes the favorite rural destination for travelers in Spain and which aims to give visibility to municipalities that are committed to the development of rural tourism.
Of the nearly 100,000 votes from users who have registered in this VI edition of the contest, Cazorla has received 20.9%, thus achieving first place, 7 points ahead of the second place (Chinchón, in Madrid). “We want to congratulate the 10 finalist municipalities of the contest, selected from the more than 200 applications received from towns in all the autonomous communities in this sixth edition of the contest,” explains Olivia Fontela, marketing director of EscapadaRural. “We also appreciate the participation of the nearly 100,000 travelers who, with their votes, have supported the candidacy of the finalist municipalities,” Fontela concludes.
In addition, each town has had an ambassador who during the voting period has visited the municipality to get to know it first-hand and promote the candidacy by disseminating the cultural, leisure, gastronomic offer, etc. in social networks. The ambassador of El Robledo has been Cristina de Kris around the world.
Chinchón (Madrid) and d'Àneu (Lleida) have finished second and third in the contest with and of the votes, respectively. These are followed by the municipality of Tinajo in Las Palmas Blanca in Murc Graus in Huesca (9.3%), the Riojan municipality of de Cameros and Montemediano and, finally, the towns of Tiedra (Valladolid), (Balearic Islands) and El Robledo (Ciudad Real), with and of the votes, respectively.
The Capital of Rural Tourism awards were born six years ago with the aim of giving visibility through a large campaign to disseminate EscapadaRural in the media, social networks and other channels to all those municipalities that are committed to the development of sustainable rural tourism and thus discovering new destinations to explore. In addition, each finalist municipality has the collaboration of a blogger who acts as an ambassador of the destination and supports the candidacy during the voting phase. After five years of the contest, it has become clear that the initiative has helped many municipalities to increase their visibility and position themselves as a relevant rural destination, thus contributing to local development, according to their respective mayors.
Now, Cazorla takes up the baton of another Andalusian town, the Cádiz municipality of Olvera, which to date has held the title of Capital of Rural Tourism after being declared the winner last year in which it obtained 18% of the votes received. Its name is added to those of other towns such as Potes (Cantabria), Santillana del Mar (Cantabria); Aínsa-Sobrarbe (Huesca) and Sigüenza (Guadalajara) awarded in previous years. Furthermore, after five editions, the Capital of Rural Tourism has given visibility to 50 charming towns that are part of a network of finalists that positions them as the favorite destinations of Spaniards.
