Could you elaborate a bit on the difference between Oyster and the Lesser 13. oz. Also, do you carry solid medium and lighter greys in the Lesser 16. oz.?

In a nutshell Oyster is a 2 fold 48 yarn against lessers 2 fold 52s ..This means lessers has a slighter finer yarn count. In theory this should make the Lesser 13oz less coarser than Oyster..However we have put more finish on the Oyster pieces so they appear very similiar BUT they are not. Regarding Lessers 16 oz we only at present carry the charcoal.29612 . This range will be looked at soon regarding re issue.Beautiful cloth for genuine cloth lovers,

that Sirs,
To add another perspective, how these two cloths are regarding the yarn count of P & B Fine Classics? P & B Fine Classics, has a very special finishing how that’s compare with the 13oz cloths under discussion?
Regards, JCF

Dear JFC,
P&B Fine Classics is like Lessers 13oz a two fold 52s yarn just not so heavy.. its means The lesser cloth has more picks and ends (ie more yarn) The Finish is Perfectaset which is not uncommon in our trade, meaning it has being soured and blown making the cloth softer to handle .Lesser have what is known in the trade as a Lesser finish which is basically very little which give the cloth its dry handle and very West End Savile Row feel.Oyster althought a 2/48 has a different finish again to make it firm but not so hard as the Lessers 13oz. The consideration also has to be made that all 3 cloths are made on different looms which in general gives the ranges their own unique characteristic.

I've heard about a book of full wool, non-super 9.5/10 ozs from Lesser that was offered previously. Has this book been discontinued, and if so, will it be offered again? Thanks in advance

Dear Killingmachine.. Lessers 9.5/10 oz suiting bunch was withdrawn .There were several issues with this cloth firstly we have frontier which was identical yarn and very very similar look and secondly we felt it was more important to concentrate on 8/9 oz tropical which in most peoples eyes was the best of the Lesser Lightweights. Killingmachine we still have some stocks of the 9.5/10 oz if you are interested we can send you patterns. Will it be offered again...Perhaps but not in near future. Hope this has answered your question ..

Very grateful for your response, James. Does that mean that Harrisons does direct sales? I know this is a thread on Lesser but since you brought up the Frontier, please bear with me for this follow up question. Apart from the very slight difference in weight (310 vs 315 g/m), what other differences are there between the Frontier and Conquest books? I've been eyeing a dark grey herringbone in the Conquest book myself

Killingmachine...Good morning ..Conquest is a prunelle weave not a plain weave ..yarn count is the same but Frontier is better.I could go into reasons why but its friday ...Trust me ...plus the range of Conquest is to be withdrawn shortly....
KillingMachine does Harrisons do direct business if im honest not really...
Have a great weekend and thanks for sensible questions if you need more info why Frontier is better send me another post monday.. jamesd

Hi James sorry I keep bringing this up but a local distributor posted a picture of the H Lesser Lightweight Fine Worsted Suitings (9.5/10 ozs):
Can I confirm that this is the Super 120s & Cashmere bunch (#309) listed on your website?
Many thanks in advance!

Great thread! I definitely hope you plan a reissue of the 16 oz. Coincidentally, I just commissioned a suit from the 16 oz. Otherwise, I might have to hoard 16 oz cloth I might possibly want to make for future use. I also just picked up 2 suits made from Lesser cloth (8/9 oz Tropical and 11 oz Golden Bale). Almost seems that 1/2 my wardrobe is made from Lesser.
BTW how are the P&B Universal different from the Lesser 16?
Also, any possibility of more sport jacketings by Carlo Barbera or do you have more in your vintage stock? I have a coat in the summer weight and the cloth almost feels like cashmere.
Thanks.
